Day 7
We leave Cape Town in the morning to start the tour of the GARDEN ROUTE, a tourist jewel of the country. You will travel via Worcester and Montagu on the R 62 towards OUDTSHOORN, a village which is historically related to ostrich breeding, an animal that was about to become extinct due to its massive hunting for the use of its feathers as decoration in the courts of Europe. In the 19th century, ostrich farms began to appear, around which a wealthy society began to form, whose reflection can be seen in the opulent stone palaces. On the way you will visit the CANGO CAVES, one of Africa’s natural marvels, famous for its fascinating calcite caves forming an amazing underground world of stalactites and stalagmites, as well as a ‘frozen waterfall’. You will enjoy a light lunch included followed by an entertaining tour of an ostrich farm before being transferred to your hotel.
