Asuncion, Paraguay's capital, sees few visitors, but offers enough interesting sights to make it worth a visit. The old city centre has plenty of monuments, museums, parks and plazas, and there's a good selection of cafes, bars and restaurants too.The Pantheon is one of the most famous places to visit in the capital. Located on the Plaza de los Heroes, it houses the remains of several military figures that died in Paraguay’s Chaco War.The most imposing building in Asuncion is the Palacio de Gobierno, which overlooks the banks of the Parana River. The Metropolitan Cathedral, in front of the Plaza Juan de Salazar, has seen better days, but remains one of the nicer places to visit in Asuncion.Asuncion is beautiful and colonial. The people here are extremely friendly, and there is a quiet and tranquil way in the hot and heavy air.
