The hotel doesn't have online access so we paid in cash at the hotel, even they don't know the name expedia which we booked online. Arrogant manager & front desk employee.never will be here again

Given the reviews of the BenMas, I expected something better. The rooms were quite small and very warm without a fan. Many of the outlets didn't work. The food was fair, but limited and the dining room & linens rather run down. Overall, the staff did not seem to be able to solve problems or provide solutions without being pressured to do so (not at all my experience in other Ethiopian hotels). The BenMas is affordable, but I will look for other hotel options the next time I'm in BD

When you stay at BenMas Hotel in Bahir Dar, you'll be near the airport, within a 5-minute drive of Bahir Dar Stadium and Lake Shore. This hotel is 2.2 mi (3.5 km) from Lake Tana and 2.4 mi (3.8 km) from Bahir Dar University.

Esta capital provincial es una de las ciudades más bonitas y ordenadas urbanísticamente que se puedan encontrar en Etiopía. Quizás influye bastante el hecho de que Bahir Dar se encuentra sobre la orilla del lago Tana. En cualquier caso es agradable pasear por sus amplías avenidas con palmeras. Un paseo muy recomendable es el que nos lleva al puente del Nilo Azul, muy próximo al lugar de nacimiento de este río. Este puente está a unos 2′5 km del hotel Ghion siguiendo la orilla del lago Tana. Desde el mismo puente y mirando en dirección al lago se pueden ver las fuentes del Nilo Azul y, según la hora del día y con mucha suerte, es posible ver algún hipopótamo. Ciertamente ni el puente ni la vista del río desde este punto tienen demasiado encanto, al menos si lo comparamos con las fuentes del Nilo Blanco en Jinja (Uganda). Aún así reiteramos nuestra recomendación de realizar este paseo. Si continuamos la pista más allá del puente y a 200 m. giramos a la derecha en dirección a la montaña de Bezawit, y andamos unos 3 km. más se llega al palacio de Haile Selassie. El palacio no es visitable y está prohibido hacer fotos desde su exterior. Sólo queda la posible vista desde ahí arriba. Volviendo al centro de Bahir Dar por el mismo camino recomendamos hacer una parada en el Hotel Tana. Este hotel está ya algo decrépito, pero tiene un magnífico jardín junto al lago, con multitud de pájaros, dónde es muy agradable tomar un refresco y disfrutar de la paz y relax de un entorno tan bonito
