This hotel was a fortress at the end of the road. Safe. But not really connected to the city. Is that even possible in Moroni? If you’re intent on going to Comoros, this is definitely a good place to stay.

موروني, جزر القمر

موروني (بالعربية: موروني) هي أكبر مدينة وعاصمة اتحادية ومقر حكومة اتحاد جزر القمر، وهي دولة أرخبيلية ذات سيادة في المحيط الهندي. تعني كلمة موروني "عند النهر" (mroni في لغة شينجازيجا). موروني هي عاصمة جزيرة نجازيجا شبه المستقلة، وهي أكبر الجزر الرئيسية الثلاث للجمهورية. قُدّر عدد سكان المدينة في عام 2003 بحوالي 41,557 نسمة. تقع موروني على طول الطريق الوطني 1، وتضم ميناءً وعدة مساجد مثل مسجد بدجاني. تاريخ موروني المبكر غير معروف بشكل جيد. أقدم دليل مؤكد على الاستيطان في جزر القمر يعود إلى القرن السابع، وربما كان ذلك بواسطة الملاحين العرب والمزارعين الناطقين بالبانتو، بينما تُظهر الاكتشافات الخزفية من القرن السابع إلى العاشر أن الجزر كانت جزءًا من الحضارة السواحلية المتطورة، ولكن متى تم استيطان موروني نفسها لأول مرة غير معروف.
