The Lodge is situated right in the Grand Canyon National Park. With modern rooms and many services within a few steps, this is a convenient choice for families. (03/08 SAL). The Lodge features a cafe that is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. This is a modern two-story lodge, built in 1962, renovated in 1996. This property is the Grand Canyon National Park Lodges' largest facility and is surrounded by pines and juniper woodlands, about 1/2 mile from the rim. Medium-size lobby with reception desk.. The property offers 198 rooms with in-room air conditioning, coffee, and refrigerator. All rooms are non-smoking. No connecting rooms available.. Grand Canyon, Verenigde Staten

De Grand Canyon is een zeer brede en diepe kloof in het noorden van de Amerikaanse staat Arizona. In de loop van miljoenen jaren heeft het water van de Colorado deze kloof in het landschap doen ontstaan. Deze extreme erosie werd mogelijk doordat het gebied waarin de kloof ligt steeds verder omhoog rees. De canyon is ongeveer 435 kilometer lang en heeft een breedte die varieert tussen 15 en 29 kilometer. Het gesteente dat nu bloot komt te liggen is volgens metingen circa 2 miljard jaar oud. De geologische structuur is onderdeel van de Grand Staircase.
