Cox's Bazar Bangladesh

Cox's Bazaar is a city, fishing port, and tourist center of Bangladesh. Its name comes from Captain Hiram Cox of the British East India Company who was appointed superintendent of the Palongkee (former name of the town) outpost after Warren Hastings became Governor of Bengal. Cox dedicated himself to rebuilding and settling Arakanese refugees in the area. Its beach is known worldwide for being the longest in the world with 120 km. Dangers are often found on this coast, such as sharks. It is 152 kilometers south of Chittagong.
