The High Tatras’ best base for skiers and boarders is Tatranská Lomnica, the resort town accessing the dizzying slopes of Lomnické sedlo. Pistes top out at 2190m, and in good years there can be snow cover for up to five months. Summer heaves with activity too; even if you can’t stop here long, it’s worth hurtling up the mountain by cable car to access heavenly views and hiking trails
