Guarulhos Brazil

Guarulhos is the second most populous city in the state of São Paulo, with more than 1.4 million inhabitants, being the most populous non-capital city of state in Brazil. It was founded in 1560 by the Jesuits to protect the village of São Paulo dos Campos de Piratininga (the present-day city of São Paulo) from attacks by the Tamoios Indians. Throughout its history, Guarulhos has undergone a great transformation, becoming a town where gold extraction took place, until its industrial transformation, first to the brick industry, and today, a multi-industrial city with several important companies in Brazil and the world, and favored by its location, near São Paulo and within the Rio-São Paulo axis, which links the two most important cities in Brazil. In Guarulhos is the most important airport in Brazil, the International Airport of São Paulo-Guarulhos, also known as Cumbica Airport, which is also the second busiest airport in Latin America.
