Niigata Japan

Niigata is the capital of Niigata prefecture and the largest city on the Japan Sea coast. It is a beautiful "city of water," with the Shinano River running through it and the Sea of Japan on its northwestern side. Since the 19th century it has prospered as a port of trade with foreign countries. Some of the most visited attractions in Niigata are Yuzawa, which is one of Japan's leading ski resort towns; and the Echigo Tsumari, an idyllic countryside staging modern art.
